Arwen Dyer

Arwen Dyer is a photographer and creative artist from Hobart, Tasmania. Her creative oeuvre includes ceramics, visual arts and dance and her love of landscape photography grew from a passion for being in nature. Arwen has a particular interest in macro and night photography: both illuminate worlds that we so often don’t stop to appreciate. She portrays emotional and spiritual responses to place and natural phenomena and invites the viewer to also respond. Her photographs depict the unique beauty of the Tasmanian wilderness and she hopes they will raise awareness of continuing the need for its protection.

Arwen’s inaugural book, Luminosity – Star, Sky & Sea, was released in February 2015. In August 2014, she undertook an artist-in-residence at Mountain Sea Arts on Flinders Island Tasmania, which culminated in a book with fellow photographer Wolfgang Glowacki, Flinders Island. Arwen has participated in various exhibitions, including a solo retrospective at Find Your Feet Wilderness Gallery (Hobart, 2015), a joint show with Wolfgang Glowacki at Jugglers Artspace (Brisbane, 2015), a joint show called Celestial Listening with multimedia artist Andrea Breen (Hobart, 2014), and, several group exhibitions, such as Tarkine in Motion (Salerno Gallery, Sydney, 2015), Wild Island Gallery inaugural exhibition (Hobart, 2015), the Hobart Art Prize (2014, 2015) and the Wrest Point Art Awards (Hobart, 2015). Arwen has a Masters of Creative Arts Therapy and when not taking photographs she works in the health sector.www.arwendyer.com
